Product Manager / Technical Sales Engineer

Description:
Works with various departmental personnel to develop and establish new and existing product lines by; working with end users to determine product requirements; developing manufacturing specifications and blueprints; providing technical expertise and clarification of various industry variables; coordinating (developmental) manufacturing and continuous improvements in manufacturability; compiling statistics and other feedback for management review.

Responsibilities:
- Researches, plans, and designs groups of mechanical items and subassemblies and directs and coordinates activities involved with (developmental) fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of such items.
- Calls on customer management representatives such as engineers or other professionals and technical personnel at industrial establishments and researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system failures.
- Designs new and modified components, which interface with machines, hardware, and software. - Establishes dimensions, determines tolerancing, and develops specifications (fit, form, and function) for new parts by examining (reverse engineering) customer supplied parts and information; usually without the aid of blueprints, mating parts, or material data.
- Investigates issues such as material substitutions and other concerns effecting part performance and manufacturing efficiency.
- Develops and produces sketches, blue prints, and specifications for manufactured parts and assemblies to be used in the manufacture of integrated and discrete electronic devices. Drafts (using 3-Dimensional CAD) detailed manufacturing prints.
- Develops, using various departmental inputs, estimated cost for custom and unusual modifications.
- Observes testing of completed units and components under operational conditions and/or consults with customers to investigate design proposals for improvement of equipment performance or in order to obtain information for development, standardization, or quality control.
- Works with Engineering and various departmental personnel to plan and direct preparation and make-up of product documentation such as engineering drawings, production specifications, development schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Reviews and responds to product related customer complaints.
- Provides technical service to customers relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Provides limited technical training to employees.
- Produces various documentation for use in marketing and sales related presentations.
- Compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management.

Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree (scientific, engineering, or mathematics major) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business communications, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in situations where only limited standardization exists.. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of formal and informal verbal and technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to dimension and inspect mechanical components using a variety of inspection equipment.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision.
- Some Travel Involved: The employee is required to travel (on an irregular schedule) in a variety of weather conditions and environments. Both domestic and international travel are required.
- Work must occasionally be performed in a cleanroom environment.
